Grilled Santa Fe Burgers

Ingredients:


1 pound lean ground beef or ground turkey

1 cup shredded mexican blend of 4 cheeses (cheddar -- monterey jack asadero, queso quesadilla)

1/2 cup salsa

1/4 cup crushed tortilla chips

1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions

1 teaspoon ground cumin or chili powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

4 pieces hamburger buns

1 bunch lettuce

1 medium sliced tomatoes
 

Preparation / Directions:


1. Prepare medium-hot charcoal fire or preheat gas grill to medium-high. 2. In medium bowl, combine ground beef, 3/4 cup of the cheese, 1/4 cup of the salsa, tortilla chips, green onions, cumin or chili powder, and garlic salt; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 1/2-inch patties. 3. Grill burgers on oiled rack about 5 minutes per side or until thickest part registers 160 degrees F. 4. Place burgers on buns; top with the remaining 1/4 cup cheese. Serve with lettuce and tomato.
