Ingredients:

Preparation / Directions:Wash both dal and rice together. Soak for an hour in salted water. Add half the turmeric.
Pressure cook dal with half the water. It gets done in about 4 whistles.
Transfer to a large saucepan, add remaining water, turmeric, ghee and add more salt if required.
Cook while stirring, till the khichidi is thick and well mixed. Mash a little if desired.
Serve hot with more ghee (optional) and kadhi.
