Tamale Pie

Ingredients:


2 pound ground beef

12 Ounces tomatoes

1 medium onion -- chopped

1 clove garlic

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon oregano

3 1/2 ounces green chilies

---Topping

1 cup grated mild cheese

1/2 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup unbleached flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 dash salt

2 tablespoon oil

2 teaspoon sugar (optional)

1/2 cup milk

1 medium single other half green chilies
 

Preparation / Directions:


Brown meat in skillet. Add remainging ingredients and simmer 20 minutes, rest of meat ingred.s Pour into a 4-qt casserole. Top with cheese. Mix rest of ingredients together and pour over the top of meat and cheese. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 30 minutes (or until topping is done).
