Pear Pie

Most do not realize this is made with Pears as it tastes more like Apples than Pears.
 

Ingredients:


1/3 cup Butter

1/3 cup Pecans chopped

3/4 cup Flour

1/2 cup Sugar

---TOPPING:---

1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon

1/2 cup Sugar (more if necessary, depending on sweetness of pears)

1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg

2 tablespoons Lemon Juice

1 dash salt

2 crust pie shell unbaked

3 tablespoons Flour

5 medium Pears
 

Preparation / Directions:


FOR PIE: Pare and grate pears on course side of grater; turn into pie shell and sprinkle with lemon juice. Combine sugar, flour, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon and sprinkle over pears. FOR TOPPING: Combine sugar, pecans and flour; then cut in the butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over previous sugar mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake 30 minutes longer or until done. Cool. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
