Ingredients:


1 Pound lentils or split peas

6 Slices uncooked bacon -- chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1/4 Cup chutney

1/2 Cup honey
 

Preparation / Directions:


Soak the lentils or peas overnight, drain, add fresh water and salt and cook until tender. Mix all the ingredients, pour into a covered baking dish and bake 50 minutes in a slow oven--about 325 F. Remove the cover and bake 30 minutes longer. Add a little of the reserve liquid if necessary. This goes well with brown bread and cole slaw.
