6 tablespoons butter
6 tablespoons caramel syrup*
3 cups confectioners sugar -- sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg white
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation / Directions:

* Caramel Syrup recipe included in "Grandma Evelyn's Caramel Cake with Caramel Syrup. : Heat butter and Caramel Syrup together in top of double boiler. Mix in the confectioners' sugar and salt (the mixture will be very stiff)... leaving over hot water 10 minutes to eliminate the uncooked taste. Remove from over hot water. Beat in stiffly beaten egg white. Blend in vanilla. Cool thoroughly. (If icing becomes toos tiff to spread smoothly, add a little cre
