Chop Suey Chicken Or Beef

1/2 cup butter
3 cups beef or chicken -- cooked
2 cups onion -- chopped
2 cups celery -- chopped
2 cups hot water
2/3 cup cold water
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 can bean sprouts
4 teaspoons soy sauce
1 cup brown gravy -- to color
1 dash salt and pepper

Preparation / Directions:

Melt butter. Add meat, onions, celery, salt and pepper to taste, saute til wilted. Add hot water, cover and cook. Add rinsed bean sprouts, and stir. Heat to boiling. Add flavoring and thickening ingredients, stir lightly, cook five minutes more. Serving Ideas : Serve with chow mein noodles
