1 teaspoon oil
1 cup bread
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter
3 large egg yolk
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 pound cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup half and half
8 slices bread
3 large egg white

Preparation / Directions:

Grease a large casserole with oil, set aside combine bread cubes and 1/2 cup milk in a bowl combine bread slices and remaining 1/2 cup milk in a large bowl cream butter until softened mix in yolks, one at a time add bread cube mixture, cheese, half and half, salt, flour, and nutmeg-mix well fold in whites with a metal spoon line bottom and sides of casserole with soaked bread slices pour in cheese mixture bake @ 400 degrees for 45-50 minutes, until golden and puffy serve hot or warm
