Chocolate Custard Cake

Ingredients:

--- custard-
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg -- well beaten
2/3 cup sugar
--- batter-
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 large egg yolks well beaten
2 cups cake flour -- sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup milk
 

Preparation / Directions:

Cook chocolate, milk, egg and sugar to custard stage. Cool completely. Beat butter, sugar and egg yolks until fluffy. Add alternately dry ingredients with liquid. Blend in cooled chocolate custard. Bake 350 degrees in 8 inch pans. 25-30 minutes. Do not overbake.
