2 pounds wholemeal flour
1 pound self-raising flour

2 teaspoons bread soda
1 teaspoon salt
4 ounces butter
2 large eggs
1 3/4 pints buttermilk

Put onto a floured baking tray, reduce the heat to 400øF/200øC/Gas mark 6 and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is nice and brown or the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the base.
