Okra Puffs

Ingredients:


1/2 cup plain cornmeal

1/2 cup evaporated milk

1 large egg -- beaten

1 large onion -- finely chopped

1/4 teaspoon dried whole marjoram

1/4 teaspoon dried whole thyme

1/4 teaspoon salt -- up to 1/2

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2 cups thinly sliced okra

2 cups Hot vegetable oil
 

Preparation / Directions:


Combine first 8 ingredients, mixing well. Stir in okra. Drop mixture by tablespoonfuls into 1/4 inch hot oil (350 F); cook until golden brown, turning once.
