3 cups Vegetable oil
3/4 cup All-purpose flour
1/2 cup Milk
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 large Egg
3 large Spanish or bermuda -- Onions, cut into 1/4 separated into rings

Preparation / Directions:

Heat oil (1 inch) in deep fryer or Dutch oven to 375 degrees. Beat remaining ingredients except onion rings with hand beater until smooth. Dip each onion ring into batter, allowing excess batter to drip into bowl. Fry a few onion rings at a time in hot oil about 2 minutes, turning once, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Keep warm in 300 degree oven while frying remaining onion rings.
