Brussels Sprouts On Anise Rice

Ingredients:


1/2 cup rice -- (any kind)

1 cup chicken or vegetable broth

1/4 teaspoon anise seed

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon cracked black pepper to taste

20 ounces fresh brussels sprouts -- trimmed

1 dash salt

1/2 cup water

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
 

Preparation / Directions:


In microwave container, cook rice in broth with anise seed and salt. While cooking, in medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add pepper and saute. Add sprouts to skillet and mix well. Sprinkle on salt and water. Cover and cook over medium-low heat. Uncover, sprinkle with lemon juice and set aside. On serving platter, transfer rice. Serve Brussels sprouts atop rice. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Approximately 8 minutes.
