Caramel Bread Pudding

Ingredients:


1 cup dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg

2 tablespoons butter -- cut into small pieces

2 cups milk

2 large eggs

1 1/2 cups bread crumbs -- (use leftover homemade biscuits)

1 pinches salt

1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 T rum
 

Preparation / Directions:


Place brown sugar in the bottom of an 8-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and diced butter. Heat milk to scalding. Beat eggs in a bowl and add bread crumbs to eggs. Pour hot milk over bread crumbs and mix well. Add salt and vanilla. Pour over brown sugar in baking dish. Place baking dish in a larger dish which has water added. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes. This will fall as it cools.
