Queen's Pudding - Edna Stave)

Ingredients:


1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 cup water

1 stick margarine

1 1/2 loaf loaves Italian bread

3 cups liquid

3 large eggs

1 dash salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 dash cinnamon

---Melt:

1 cup firmly packed dark brown

1 cup water

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon margarine

---Melt over low heat. Pour in baking dish.
 

Preparation / Directions:


Cut the crusts off of 1 and 1/2 loaves of Italian bread. Cut the loaves into large cubes and scatter in bowl over sugar mixture. 3 c liquid - it can be all evaporated milk (which Edna uses) or half milk and half water or whole milk. Beat this liquid with 3 eggs, a dash of salt and a t of vanilla. Pour over bread mix. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Do not stir. Bake 1 hour at 350.
