Ingredients:

10 cups thinly sliced tart apples

1 cup dark brown sugar

1/2 cup molasses

1/2 cup apple cider

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons butter

Preparation / Directions:

1.Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees 2.You will want a very deep dish pie pan for this recipe! 3.First, prepare enough crust for both a bottom and top (use your favorite recipe). 4.In a medium pot, combine the molasses and apple cider and heat over medium/low until it boils. Allow to boil very gently for about 5 minutes, then stir in the butter. 5.While the molasses is boiling, in a large bowl, toss together the apples, flour, spices, salt and sugar. Once thoroughly combined, place into pie dish with bottom crust already in place. 6.Add the molasses and apple cider and butter mixture when ready, pour over the sliced apples 7.Place your top crust on and crimp around edges. Make several slits in top crust to allow steam to escape! 8.Place on middle rack of pre-heated oven and allow to cook for about an hour, or until the apples are tender and the juices are bubbling out ot the slits in the crust. 9.Serve warm with heavy cream or your favorite sinfully rich ice cream.
