Apple Cobbler

Ingredients:


3 cups apples -- * see note

1 recipe basic shortcake dough

2 tablespoons butter

2/3 cup sugar

3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
 

Preparation / Directions:


* Pared, Cored, Seeded and Quartered Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Combine the apples, sugar and flour in a saucepan. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until it thickens. Prepare only half the usual amount of basic shortcake dough. Place the dough in a well greased (8" x 8") pan. Cover it closely with the hot fruit. Dot the fruit with the butter. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the fruit. Bake about 30 minutes. Serve hot with cream. NOTE: THIS DISH MAY BE PREPARED WITH ALMOST ANY OTHER FRUIT BESIDES APPLES: APRICOTS, PEACHES, CHERRIES, BLACKBERRIES, BLUEBERRIES, PLUMS, PRUNES, ETC.
