Sicilian Pasta Sauce

Ingredients:


3 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium green pepper -- chopped

1 large onion -- chopped

5 cloves garlic minced

1 pound meat chopped

2 cans crushed peeled tomatoes in puree ( large )

32 ounces tomato sauce

8 ounces tomato paste

1 1/2 teaspoons oregano

1 large bay leaf

1 tablespoons salt or to taste

1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

3 cups water
 

Preparation / Directions:


Brown ground beef; drain oil. Set aside. Put oil in large saucepan. Lightly brown pepper, garlic and onion; add canned tomatoes, chop meat, spices and water. Heat to boiling. Lower heat and simmer about 3 hours.
