Ingredients:


5 packages knox unflavored gelatine

2 cups cold water

4 cups sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon suggested extracts*

4 drops food coloring -- optional

2 tablespoons powdered sugar or superfine granulated sugar
 

Preparation / Directions:


In large saucepan, sprinkle unflavored gelatine over cold water; let stand 1 minute. Stir over low heat until gelatine is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes. Stir in sugar and salt. Boil, stirring frequently, 15 minutes. Evenly divide mixture into two 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pans. Into each pan, stir one suggested extract and food coloring. Let stand covered, at room temperature, at least 12 hours. Heavily dust cutting board with, powdered sugar. With tip of wet sharp knife, loosen gel from sides of pan; pull out onto cutting board. Cut into 1 inch squares and roll in additional sugar. *SUGGESTED EXTRACTS: Use 2 teaspoons lemon or coconut extract; or 1/2 teaspoon peppermint or strawberry extract.
