Strawberries In Balsamic Syrup

Ingredients:


1/3 cup balsamic vinegar

3 tablespoons sugar

2 pints fresh strawberries -- hulled, sliced

1 package vanilla ice cream

1 bunch fresh mint sprigs -- (optional)
 

Preparation / Directions:


Combine balsamic vinegar and sugar in heavy small saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and bring to boil. Place strwaberries in large bowl. Pour syrup over and toss to coat. Refrigerate until ready to use (up to 24 hours). Scoop ice cream into bowls. Spoon strawberries and syrup over. Garnish with mint, if desired. Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 5 minutes Makes: 4 servings This simple dessert may seem like a strange combination, but the flavors of balsmaic vinegar are a perfect foil to the sweetness of strawberries.
