Ingredients:

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 large egg
4 tablespoons molasses
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves -- ground
1 teaspoon ginger
 

Preparation / Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add remaining ingredients. Roll dough in balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Put drop of water into center of each cookie. Bake at 350ΓΈ for 12 to 15 minutes.
