2 extra large eggs
5 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup butter -- (or margarine)
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon butter-flavored salt
1 teaspoon butter-flavored extract
1/2 teaspoon rum extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup apple juice
1/2 cup milk
8 ounces medjool dates -- (pitted. sliced in half lengthwise)

Preparation / Directions:

Combine all ingredients except dates. Beat with electric mixer until smooth. Spread batter evenly in greased (or PAM-sprayed) jelly roll pan. Arrange date slices in rows or in an attractive manner. Pat lightly into batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until it tests done. Cool on rack. Dust lightly with sifted confectioners' sugar, if desired. Cut into desired sized pieces.
