Chinese Braised Chicken

1 cup onion -- chopped
3 pounds chicken -- skinned andfat removed
1 cup water
1/2 cup soy sauce, low sodium
2 tablespoons fresh ginger root -- chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
1 clove garlic chopped

Preparation / Directions:

Place 1/2 cup chopped onion in bottom of crockpot liner. Add chicken. Be sure to remove ALL visable fat! Combine water, soy sauce, chopped ginger, sugar and garlic. Pour over all. Add the other 1/2 cup chopped onion. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
