Beef Goulash

1 1/2 pounds beef -- cubed
3 tablespoons oil
1 cup mushrooms -- sliced
1 small onion -- chopped
1 can tomato soup
1/4 cup water
1 piece bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 dash dairy sour cream

Preparation / Directions:

Heat oil in a skillet and brown meat on all sides. Spoon meat into crock pot, and saute mushrooms and onion a few >> minutes. Remove pan from heat. Add all remaining ingredients except sour cream oto onions, and stir to blend. Pour mixture over meat and stir together. Cover and cook for 7 to 9 hours. At serving time, stir a few Tablespoons of the cooking juices with sour cream, then stir this cream mixture into the meat. Check seasoning for salt. Serve with hot noodles or rice, and garnish with a sprinkling of paprika.
