Ingredients:

2 Cups corn meal
1 Tablespoon flour
1/2 Teaspoon soda
1 Teaspoon baking powder
1 Tablespoon sugar
3 Tablespoons chopped onion
1 Cup buttermilk
1 large egg -- lightly beaten
 

Preparation / Directions:

Mix all dry ingredients together. Add onion, buttermilk and egg. Drop by spoonfuls into deep fat. Fry to a golden brown. Drain. Usually served with fish and can be cooked in same fat.
