Jumbo Lemon-Glazed Ginger Cookies

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup molasses
1 large egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon grated gingerroot
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups all-purpose flour
---Lemon Icing:
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 tablespoons softened butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon shredded lemon peel
1 tablespoons lemon juice
3 teaspoons milk

Preparation / Directions:

Beat butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or till softened. Add sugar, molasses, egg, baking soda, gingerroot, nutmeg, and cloves. Beat till well combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Mix in flour with a spoon. Drop dough by scant 1/4 cup measures, 4 inches apart, onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 F oven for 12 to 14 minutes or till edges are firm. Remove cookies; cool on a wire rack. Drizzle Lemon Icing over tops of warm cookies. Lemon Icing: Combine powdered sugar, butter, and lemon peel in a small bowl. Stir in lemon juice. Stir in milk till icing is smooth and of drizzling consistency.
