Preparation / Directions:
Cream together butter, brown sugar and vanilla. Sift flour with baking powder; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in 3/4 cup of the walnuts. Divide dough in half and shape each into a roll 8 inches long. Roll each in remaining walnuts. Wrap in waxed paper and freeze until firm. Remove one roll at a time from freezer. Using a sharp, thin bladed knife, cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place slices about 1 inch apart on baking sheets. Bake above oven center at 350 degrees F. for 10 to 12 minutes or until browned lightly. Using broad spatula, remove to wire rack to cool. Makes about 60 cookies.
