1 Cup firmly packed light brown sugar
4 Cup sifted flour
1 pound softened butter

Preparation / Directions:

Press the sugar through a sieve; mix thoroughly with flour. Add the butter and work in until a smooth dough is formed. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and pat to 1/2 inch thickness. If necessary, chill dough for easier handling. Cut into desired shapes and transfer to cookie sheets. Bake at 325 F. for about 25 minutes or until delicately browned. Remove pans to cooling racks for 5 minutes before transferring cookies to racks to cool thoroughly.
