Raisin Drop Cookies

1 cup shortening
2 cups raisins
1 cup water
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup chopped nuts -- optional

Preparation / Directions:

Cook raisins in water 5 minutes. Cool. Cream shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in raisins and liquid. Add nuts. Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet and bake in 350 degree oven about 10 to 12 minutes. Store in cold cut keeper or snack stor.
