Karen's Molasses Sugar Cookies

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses or sourghum
1 large egg
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves, ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation / Directions:

Cream, shortening and brown sugar. Add molasses and egg, beat well, sift dry ingredients. Add to dry mixture, mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Dip in brown sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE!
