Honey Butter Cookies

2 cups butter -- softened
8 cups flour
1 cup honey
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
2 large eggs -- separated
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 cup almonds -- chopped, optional

Preparation / Directions:

Cream butter and gradually add honey. Beat in egg yolks and lemon peel, flour, baking powder and lemon juice. Stir well and chill. Shape into small balls and flatten. Brush with beaten egg whites and sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 350*F for 10-15 minutes.
