Preparation / Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
2) Combine 2 cups white sugar, shortening, and eggs. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda. 3) Mix dry ingredients into egg mixture. Stir well. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.
4) Drop by teaspoon ( I use regular coffeespoon) onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes until light brown.
5) To Make Frosting: Melt 1/2 cup butter and combine with 2 cups powdered sugar and add milk until frosting reaches desired consistency. Mix in food coloring (optional). Mix together and spread onto cookies.
