Christmas Mulled Wine

Warming drink for the winter months.


2 bottles red wine (Rioja or Cabernet Sauvignon)
1 package Orange Juice
1 tablespoon Brandy, Cognac or Citrus Liqueur (peach schnapps, cointreau etc)
2 medium oranges - 1 sliced
1 medium lemon - sliced
10 whole cloves
2 medium whole cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 Teaspoon ginger
1/2 Teaspoon nutmeg

Preparation / Directions:

1. Into a large pan, pour in both bottles of wine and the carton of OJ. 2. Add the liqueur/spirit of your choice. 3. Add cinnamon sticks, ginger and nutmeg. 4. Push the cloves into the whole orange and add. 5. Slice the remaining orange and lemon and add. 6. Put pan on to heat and stir in the honey. 7. Remove from heat when close to boiling and strain. 8. Serve. NB If you are having a party and want to give your guests this drink as they arrive, then the pan can be left on a very low heat for quite some time and still be warm enough to heat up your guests coming in from the cold.
