Chocolate Snowmen

1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate morsels -- melted (optional)

Preparation / Directions:

Preheat oven to 350~F. In small, heavy saucepan over low heat chocolate morsels 3 to 5 minutes or until melted, stirring until smooth; remove from heat. In small bowl, combine flour baking powder and salt. In large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, cream butter, granulated sugar and vanilla until fluffy; beat in melted chocolate. Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended. To make each snowman, roll dough into 3 balls 1 1/2 inches, 1 1/4 inches and 1 inch each. Brush dough lightly with water where balls will touch. On ungreased cookie sheet, line up balls from largest to smallest, so they are touching where brushed with water. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until centers of cookies are just set. Cool on cookie sheet on wire rack. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar; pipe on facial features and buttons with melted chocolate if desired. Makes about 10 snowmen
