Variation of a Traditional Southern Pound Cake with a Smooth Sweet/Moist Consistency Modified mother-in-law\'s recipe to suit my personal taste preferences (Don\'t knock it, she did the same thing).


2 Sticks salted butter (room temperature)
1 Cup Crisco
3 Cups granulated sugar
5 large eggs (room temperature)
3 Cups flour (all-purpose)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 Cup milk (you can add a little cream)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract

Preparation / Directions:

o Pre-heat oven to 350 F. o Combine Flour and Baking Powder before sifting. o Add flavoring to Milk. o Grease Pound Cake form with Crisco. o Cream Sugar, Butter and Crisco. o Add one Egg at a time (beating well after each). o Add Flour and Milk alternately. o Mix until well blended. o Pour batter into Pound Cake form (then spin form a couple times to make batter even). o Bake at 350 for 58 minutes (you can turn the oven off near the end and let it coast). o Place on cooling rack for 30 minutes before removing cake from form.
