1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
3 tablespoons margarine
3 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs -- beaten until thick
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup margarine -- melted
1/2 cup milk
21 ounces cherry pie filling

Preparation / Directions:

To make topping: cutting together with pastry blender. Combine the first 4 ingredients. Set aside. Sift together the 1 1/2 cups flour, the baking powder and salt. Set aside. To the beaten eggs slowly add the sugar, beating well after each addition. Stir in the (slightly cooled) margarine. Add the dry ingredients; and slowly add the milk. Beat until batter is smooth. In a 9 inch square pan (greased) spread half of the batter. Spoon the pie filling over the batter. Top with the remaining batter. Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
