Orange Cake

1/2 cup sugar
1 stick butter
2 large eggs
1/4 cup ground almonds
1 medium grated rind of 1 orange
1 medium orange -- juice of
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons grand marnier
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Preparation / Directions:

Preheat oven to 350. Cream together sugar and butter . Beat in eggs one at a time. Add almonds and orange rind and juice. Beat together. Mix together flour and baking powder. Add to liquid mixture. Beat until well mixed. Butter and flour a 7" x 9" baking pan. Pour batter into pan and bake about 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. While cake bakes, make glaze: stir together sugar, orange juice and Grand Marnier. Mix until smooth. Remove cake from oven, place on cooling rack. Pour glaze over warm cake. Garnish with sesame seeds. Serve warm or at room temperature. If microwaved, approximately 12-14 minutes.
