Grandma Evelyn's Lady Baltimore Cake

1 cup riverview butter
2 cups sugar
3 1/2 cups fishers blend pastry flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup riverview milk
1 teaspoon rosewater
6 large egg whites

Preparation / Directions:

Cream butter and sugar. Add sifted flour and baking powder alternately with milk and rose water. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in three layer cake pans lined with greased paper in a moderate oven (about 375 F.). Cover with a greased paper while baking to prevent cake from browning. Spread with Lady Baltimore filling.
