3/4 cup sugar
4 tablespoons butter -- softened
1 large egg
1/2 cup whole milk
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 dash salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped candied fruit- cherries -- pineapple...
1 cup confectioners sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice

Preparation / Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.~ Cream the butter and sugar together. Beat in the egg and milk. Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt. Grease a (9") square baking pan. Spread the batter in the pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar and fruit. Bake until puffed and brown (about 30 minutes). Combine the confectioners' sugar and lemon juice. Drizzle over the still warm cake. Serv
