Black Berry Cake

2 Cup sugar
1 Cup butter
2 Cup canned berries and juice
3 Cup flour
4 large eggs -- well beaten
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon baking powder
6 tablespoons buttermilk

Preparation / Directions:

Combine 2 teaspoons soda, cream, sugar and butter. Add beaten eggs, add milk and soda which has been well dissolved, add spices and baking powder, flour, and berries. Bake in large greased pan about 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Test for doneness. --TOPPING:-- About 2 tablespoons of berries and juice, 1 stick butter, powdered sugar to make topping spread well.
