Kahlua Fudge Brownies

Ingredients:


1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup butter

3 ounces unsweetened cocoa, or cocoa powder

3 large eggs

2 cups granulated sugar

1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp kahlua

3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans -- optional

1/4 cup nut halves -- optional
 

Preparation / Directions:


Grease 9" square pan well; line with foil. Preheat oven to 350F. Resift flour with baking powder and salt. Melt butter with chocolate over low heat. Beat eggs with sugar until light. Add flour mixture, chocolate mixture, and 1/4 cup Kahlua; blend well. Stir in nuts. Turn into prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes, or until top springs back when touched lightly in center, and edges begin to pull away from the pan. Remove from oven; cool thoroughly in pan. Brush top with 1 Tbsp Kahlua. Cut into 1" x 2" bars. Garnish if desired. Makes 2 dozen.
