1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup orange juice
1 large egg slightly beaten
2 tablespoon butter or margarine-melted and cooled
1 tablespoon grated fresh orange peel
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup chopped pitted dates
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Preparation / Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In seperate bowl, combine orange juice, egg, butter, orange peeo and almond extract. Make well in center of flour mixture and pour in orange juice mixture; stir until just combined. Stir in dates and pecaans. Pour batter into greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degree for 50 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Makes 1 loaf.
