Rough Brown Bread

Ingredients:


3 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup white flour

5 tablespoons oats

1 1/4 teaspoons salt

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/4 cups buttermilk

1 large egg

2 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
 

Preparation / Directions:


Sift the dry ingredients with your fingers. Mix the buttermilk, egg and oil together and stir into the flour mixture. Mix well and knead it a little. Cut a cross in the top. Put the dough on a baking tray and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to 375 degrees and bake for 30 minutes (it should sound hollow at the base). Place on a wire rack and wrap with a tea towel to keep soft.
