Date - Nut Loaf

1 cup english walnuts -- (leave in large pieces)
1 pound pitted dates -- (1eave whole)
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation / Directions:

Combine the above ingredients in mixing bowl.Add 4 beaten eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix carefully. Place mixture in 2 - -loaf pans (3 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches) which have been greased and lined with waxed paper. The pans need waxed paper on ends and bottom of pan, and the waxed paper must be greased. Place on rack below loaves a sheet cake pan filled with water. Bake loaves at 350F for 1 to 1 1/4 hours. Before removing from pan, use a knife to loosen loaves. Remove waxed paper and place loaves on rack to cool. Place rack in plastic bag to insure loaves will be moist. Slice and spread with Philadelphia cream cheese, butter or margarine.
