CHERRY NUT BREAD

Ingredients:


2 Cup unbleached flour

1 Cup sugar plus 2 TBS. sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 Cup shortening

1 large egg

1/2 cup orange juice

1 tablespoon greated orange peel

2 tablespoon cherry juice-OR-warm water

1 Cup tart cherries-well drained and coarsely chopped

1/2 Cup nuts-chopped
 

Preparation / Directions:


Sift the flour, sugar and baking powder together and cut in the shortening until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Stir in the egg, orange juice, orange peel and cherry juice or warm water, blending only until well moist. Fold in the cherries and nuts. Pour into prepared pans of choice and bake @ 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done...enjoy mucho!
