Bar Harbor Gingerbread

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
3/4 cup molasses
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup buttermilk
 

Preparation / Directions:

Cream butter and white and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Add molasses and blend In a bowl, combine the flour, cocoa,cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, baking powder and soda Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with the buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Pour batter into a well greased bundt or tube cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when cake is tested. Cool for 30 minutes. Turn out onto rack to comlete cooling
