Almond Apple Bread

1/2 cup Margarine -- Hollywood
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons egg substitute -- dried plus 4 T water
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon orange rind -- grated
2 cups barley flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup orange juice
1 cup apples -- finely chopped
1/2 cup almonds -- chopped

Preparation / Directions:

Cream together the margarine and the sugar. Beat in the egg substitute, vanilla, and orange rind. Stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add these dry ingredients to the creamed margarine alternately with the orange juice. Fold in the apples and almonds. Turn the dough into 3 greased 6X4 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350ΓΈ for 45 to 50 minutes; test for doneness. Cool 10 minutes in the pan. Makes 3 loaves.
