Different take on plain ol' chilli!


2 tablespoons Shortening
1 tablespoons Salt
2 tablespoons Chilli Powder
2 Cans Kidney Beans
1 teaspoon Thyme
1 Large onion,sliced thin
1 Clove Garlic, crushed
1 Cup Water
1 piece Beef Bouillon Cube
2 pound Beef Stew Meat,(or 4lb Beef Short Ribs)

Preparation / Directions:

Preheat oven to 450 deg. Melt shortening in a large casserole or baking pan with cover. Place onion slices and garlic in bottom of pan. Place beef on top.(If using short ribs, place bone down.) Season with salt and thyme. Bake uncovered, for 50 minutes. (If using the short ribs, turn after 30 minutes.) Check to make sure meat doesn't dry out. Add more shortening if needed. Reduce oven temp. to 350 deg. Drain off all fat possible. Sprikle meat with chilli powder. Add water and bouillon; cover tightly and bake 60 minutes. After the 60 minutes, add beans to meat and bake 25 minutes longer. Serve with rice
