American Style Lasagna

1/2 pound lean ground beef
1 clove garlic minced or pressed
2 cups prepared spaghetti sauce
1 teaspoon Italian style herbs
1/4 cup water
6 package uncooked lasagna noodles (6 oz)
1 cup small curd cottage cheese
1 large egg
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups Mozarella cheese (6 oz) shredded

Preparation / Directions:

In a heavy skillet, brown the ground beef with the garlic until meat is no longer pink and is evenly crumbled. Stir in the spaghetti sauce, herbs, and water. Spoon 1/3 of the sauce over the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish. Top with 3 of the noodles, breaking them so they fit the pan. Place broken pieces alongside the whole noodles. Mix the cottage cheese, egg, and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Spoon half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Top with 1/2 of the Mozzarella cheese. Layer with remaining noodles, cottage cheese mixture, meat sauce, and Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. Be sure noodles are covered with sauce and toppings. Bake at 350ƒ for 50 to 60 minutes until lasagna is bubbly, lightly browned, and noodles are done.
