Texas Style Tofu Barbecue

1 pound firm tofu; frozen -- thawed, shredded
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons kitchen bouquet -- (or soy
1 cup water -sauce or liquid smoke)
1 cup commercial barbecue sauce
1 small onion chopped
1 package hamburger buns
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Preparation / Directions:

Squeeze excess moisture from thawed tofu; crumble in frying pan. Add water, Kitchen Bouquet, onion, garlic, salt and pepper, stirring to marinate tofu. Simmer for 10 minutes on medium heat. Drain and add barbecue sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes on low heat. Serve on buns with extra sliced onions and sweet pickle relish. Editor's note: can you imagine a real Texan eating this
